Quiz 4 CIRCULATION : THE SALT CITY LIBRARY


The Salt Lake City Library is one example of a good horizontal circulation. It has an excellent approach, entrance and configuration of the path. The architect thank in a public space to make better approaches and of course to make a good principal entrance.

Those virtues are not only from outside. Also we can see from inside every horizontal intension with lines.
Light is one of the best protagonists here. This building shows us how to control light with a clean architecture. Who mark the rhythm? The answer is not only one but, the light mark very well a soft rhythm inside. 0401library_7saltlake_b.jpg This library has an Atrium (or light Atrium). This magnificent atrium becomes in the main distribution space of the building. The disposition of the stairs makes a good circulation. The point in any building is to make feel something nice when people approach to the building and of course when people walk inside. It´s amazing that we can recognize each level from the principal space. From this way we can know where everything is. Is very important visual contact with our immediately context. 109_salt_lake_public_library_600_x_460.jpg This building was constructed by people who care what ´s happenings inside. The reason is only one: Will be persons of different age who use those spaces. We have to learn a lot of this library. I think this building is a sensorial experience to enjoy.
